Cloud Native is the present and future of computing.
It’s what allows us to deliver software quickly, provision it cheaper than before and it brings Dev and Ops together. While we still iron out WTF it is, let’s get down to some fundamentals. Infrastructure.
Applications have been conforming to infrastructure for decades. From on-prem to Cloud Native, the applications are the reason we run infrastructure.
But, for some reason, we’re back to gatekeeping.
We've automated and abstracted infrastructure to hide it from developers. We've added side cars and libraries and smoke and mirrors. This isn’t sustainable.
Unnecessarily complicated infrastructure is a red flag.
It's time for infrastructure to support applications natively for all of the functionally they need. We need infrastructure that understands application networking, authentication, and performance. The next wave of infrastructure will succeed by giving developers all the power infrastructure engineers have had.
